"Gone on Sunday" A Cotton Lee Penn Historical Mystery Book 1 by Tower Lowe

"Good luck to you and Walker," Cotton Lee said. She'd never really liked Walker, but she didn't want it to show. "We plan to have all the luck in the world." Two Sundays later, Little Mary was dead, beaten to death on her screened in porch, the same way her grandmother, Bead Baker, had been found beaten to death in her kitchen four decades earlier."....

Such an intriguing story line! Cotton Lee's friend is murdered. The year is 1972. The place Homeville, Virginia. There is something that connects her dead friend, Little Mary, to a murder some 40 years before that. Her grandmother, Bead Baker, was murdered in 1932.

Although, what some might called disabled from polio, Cotton is anything but! The story alternates between what happened in 1972 and in 1932. Some things changed over the years and some didn't, including the suspect list.

Cotton is about to uncover some interesting secrets. With a list of suspects, she unravels both stories until they meet in the middle. Can she solve both murders? Is she in danger? Was there one killer of both women? Were others involved? The history and the rumors will need to be sorted. In the end will it make sense, or remain a mystery?

Cotton is tough, not to be dissuaded in any way, and loyal to her friends memory. I loved her character. Unusual murder mystery, different for a change. With a few surprises you don't see coming. I really enjoyed this book!

Thank you Tower Lowe.

These are three heart felt stories about what people are willing to do to survive. Some things happen out of their control. It's how they respond that are the heart of these stories.

The first story involve Guillaume, his son, and the hardship they face with the family farm. The losses they face. The change it will bring

The second story is about Matthew, who risks his life to save his favorite tree. Just a child, faced with so many life changing situations. The tree is his sanctuary, until someone decides to remove it.

The third story involves Francois, who makes a choice to save his grandson. Arthur has recently come to him, and Francois takes his new responsibility seriously, with love. So many things need to be done so they can carry on in every day life.

What ties them together is love, the desire to protect their loved ones, and the strength to continue on. While what is considered short stories, 70 pages each, altogether they show what "The Sacrifice" is all about.
