"After we said our good-byes, I sat in front of the dark computer screen lost in thought. How had my dad managed to make me feel so loved and so rejected all in a span of fifteen minutes? I was on an emotional roller coaster that I didn't remember buying tickets for. Here he had the chance to meet his only child, the one he didn't even know he had, and he blew it. The men in my life were stressing me out and I wished I knew what to do about it."........

Attorney Jamie Quinn is back in this fifth book in the "Jamie Quinn Cozy Mystery." This story finds her investigating deaths at a local nursing home.

With colorful characters and even more colorful friends, like Duke, can Jamie solve the mystery of what is happening at "La Vida Boca?" She may put herself, and her friends in jeopardy, as she gets closer to the answers.

New friend, Jessie, is there to give her a hand. I love Duke. He's a one of a kind friend. Jessie is special in her own right. She is providing animal therapy to the nursing home residents, while Jamie is supposed to be providing a legal service to the residents. All is not what it seems. From mysterious deaths to a forged painting, there's a few mysteries to be solved.

The author has a great sense of humor. Jamie is a great character. It's a nice comfortable kind of book. I really enjoyed it. Some nice surprises. Some endings to some story lines that have been a common thread in the other books. Overall, an entertaining and fun, "who done it" book.

Thank you Barbara Venkataraman

"The Perfect Stranger" by Megan Miranda

"Emmy's car was on a flatbed truck now, and a news crew had arrived. Most spectators had left the area, but not all. This was the gritty part, the grisly part. This was the part you didn't report-that turned people away. The truth. The gut-wrenching truth that only we bore witness to."......

Leah and Emmy move to a small town in Pennsylvania. Leah running away from a mistake, and the boyfriend who ratted her out. Emmy leaving a bad relationship. Things start to turn when a girl resembling Leah, is found beaten near her home.

Emmy hasn't returned to pay her share of the rent. The police are asking questions where Leah is teaching at the local school. Everything is not as it seems. You could feel that something isn't quite right undercurrent as soon as you start reading this book.

This mystery, thriller, was a page turner. I had to see where this was going, and find out what happened to Emmy, and if Leah is going to survive the whole thing.

Who beat the girl near the lake? Did they arrest the right guy? Is someone stalking Leah? Will Emmy pay the price for Leah's mistakes? Small towns can be a terrible place to hide your secrets. Someone is always watching.

Does Emmy even exist? Leah is having a hard time with the truth. The detective on the case isn't about to go easy on her. Great ending! I love a book where all the unanswered questions come to light. The kind of story that sticks with you. Characters you'll love or despise. A few surprises along the way. A great read!

Thank you Megan Miranda, Netgalley, and Simon and Schuster Publishing.

Mute Desire "The Blast" Book 2 by Chris Lange

"His main task was to discover the identity and the location of people with extraordinary skills. In my last and clearer visions, I realized that stopping him at that point in time created a disaster even worse than the situation you're in now."........

In the second book of the "Blasted" series, we find our four adults and a child still in hiding from the "new world blasted." One has betrayed them.

Kat has found a letter from her past, that will be a guide to their future. Searching for the man who has turned human beings into caveman type behavior, their lives will be forever changed. Who is "Cranium?" Kat and her friends posses special abilities, it's what led them to each other in the first place.

When Cranium gets his hands on Holly. Things will be revealed that the group hadn't understood. Is it true? Or the means to the end Cranium is after?

Holly and Brackens relationship has developed. I felt her virginity and innocence was a little overdone. The theme, and story, was far more interesting than the romantic part of it.

A great cliffhanger. You'll definitely want to read the next in the series.

Thank you Chris Lange
