"Auburn Ride" by David Stever

"I drove in a police cruiser thousands of times over my twenty- year career but last night was the first time I was in the back seat. I have been in the city's main lock up thousands of times but today was the first time I'd seen the view from the inside of a cell looking out. Not fun.".....

Hard edged, former cop turned private detective, Johnny Delarosa, is about to be taken on the ride of his life. An auburn haired woman by the name of Claire, is about to send him on a search for two million dollars.

Tough guy from the first page. A hard boiled detective story, with a storyline to hold onto, and characters to draw you in.

Is Claire on the up and up? Will Johnny be mesmerized by her, or risk it all to do the job she's hired him for? When the search for this money brings the mob into it things get rather dangerous for all involved.

When a girl he rescued becomes his new intern, things get a little dicey for Johnny and Mike. Taking her on might help or hinder them.

Lots of action, interesting situations, a little deceit to go around. Not everyone is going to make it to end. Is the two million for real? Who will get it if Johnny actually finds it?

Great read! Engaging until the last page. Promising series. Look forward to more "Delarosa" cases.

Thank you David Stever.

"Molding My Destiny" by Patrice M. Foster

"I didn't realize that your past really sticks with you. You don't just walk through a nice new door and step into a shining opportunity. Even if you slam the door behind you, never glimpse through the keyhole or peek under the door frame, because that little chink of light from your old life still taunts you. Worse, no one tells you that its's a swinging door and that you'll always be able to glimpse the past. Sometimes you may slip back through that door into your old ways because even though you hate that place, it's familiar and strangely comforting.".....

This is the personal story of the author, Patrice Foster. From her childhood, which began in Jamaica and onto a life in America. Neglect, abuse and abandonment. This is how Patrice turned it around after suffering some of the worst things you can imagine.

It's a story of hope for anyone who has struggled with things out of their control, especially childhood trauma. There is a light at the end of the tunnel and eventually Patrice chose that path to the light and a new life.

Well written, heartbreaking, and hopeful. I can't imagine the life she had to accept and how hard she fought to make a new one.

Thank you Patrice for telling your story.

" A New Normal" by Beverley Hollowed

"Grace wondered when this hurt was going to end. She missed him now more than she ever had. Two years had passed, but sometimes the emptiness inside was almost consuming her. Was it time for her to move on? She didn't know if she could. Some days, Grace didn't know if she could even continue on herself.".......

Grace is living her life, the best she can. She's living it without the love of her life, Adam. She accepts that this is her life alone now. If only her best friend, Brenna, would agree. Brenna is always trying to get her to agree to blind dates.

Grace has lived the last couple years believing that there would never be a future with another man. Then a photographer named, Kenzie, enters the picture.

Kenzie is somewhat of a challenge. His easy going life style and ways make it hard for Grace to give into him. Not to mention his age. Fate steps in though and puts them closer. It's up to Grace. Kenzie is smitten from first sight.

Grief can be a hard obstacle to overcome. Hard to let go, and let someone new into your heart. Can Grace do that? Can she make peace with herself and Adam's death?

Sweet, sad, heart wrenching. You want Grace to be happy again, but is she her own worst enemy? Kenzie is not Adam and nothing like him. Can she allow herself a "New Normal?"

Like her other books I've had the pleasure of reading, this one is also captivating. Goes right to your heart. Well written, and characters that you will feel like you know and love. I love this author, and her books. Beautifully written.

Thank you Beverley Hollowed.

"Reaper's Claim" by Simone Elise

"The regret boiled within his eyes and his face twisted with guilt. "I'm sorry darling, I know you can't forgive me for this yet, but I wanted you to know I'm sorry. Sorry. Did it even fix it? Why do people think they can do awful things and then just throw sorry at the end of it like all is forgiven.".....

Abby Harrison is the daughter of Jed Harrison. Jed is the President of Satan's Sons Mother Charter. Her and her twin sister, Kim, grew up among the bikers and under their protection.

One night, in a dark alley behind the clubhouse, Kade saves Abby. From there things change in ways neither was expecting. Kade is also known in the club as "Reaper." You can imagine why.

The story takes place over the next few years. As the girls go from 16 years old to adults. Bad things can happen to the daughters of a biker president, and those that try to keep them safe. Kim and Abby are about as opposite as they can be.

Hard story line, adult language, violent situations. What you'd expect from a biker story, and then some. Fast paced, with characters you'd probably think twice about hanging around with. I loved them! I think Abby's character was the biggest surprise. What you think of her, and then what she's capable of. Wow!

Kade lays his claim to Abby, but does he really think he can get around her dad? Does Abby even want him to? This isn't a love story exactly. More of a tug of war of hurt feelings, heart breaks, and misunderstandings. Great ending! Please be a series!

Thank you Simone Elise and Inkitt!

"The Devil Crept In" by Ania Ahlborn

"Or it could have been that Jude was the next Max Larsen. Dunk had told the tale a dozen times, probably more. A kid goes into the forest and never comes out. Two weeks later, his body is discovered. Mangled. Half-eaten. Swelling up like a balloon. The cops called it an animal attack, but everyone knew it was the work of a madman."....

Years ago a young boy disappeared, and later was found dead. Now another young boy, Jude Brighton, is missing. His cousin,Stevie, is desperate to find him, hopefully alive.

Around town pets have been disappearing. Would a killer of animals also be the killer of young boys? Are the cases connected? The story takes place in Deer Valley, Oregon.

We follow the horrifying twists and turns as everyone tries to find Jude. Will Jude be found dead or alive? Will the killer be a stranger, or someone they all know? There are things you won't see coming.

The boys don't lead very good family lives. Is evil lurking close by? Are there monsters in the woods? Shocking and scary. Jude won't be the only one you'll be afraid for.

If you've not read any Ania Ahlborn horror stories, I highly recommend them. If you want a different and unpredictable horror story, this is your author. When you can actually feel the fear coming off the pages through the characters, you know you've found a well written horror story.

"Beautiful Broken Girls" by Kim Savage

Buy "Beautiful Broken Girls" on Feb 21st at Amazon: click here!

"Everyone wanted to touch us. Including you. So remember the seven places you touched me That's where you'll find the truth. Start at the beginning. In my words. "...

Sisters, Mira and Francesca, lived an over protected and lonely life. One neighborhood boy, Ben, is able to reach Mira. In a strange twist the girls commit suicide, drowning in the quarry. The story starts with their deaths.

After their suicide, a letter arrives from Mira to Ben. Something between them will be clues to where more notes will be found. He will learn of their life and secrets. Will he ultimately learn why they died?

This young adult story is both dark and tragic. The story line is actually not even what I thought it was going to be. It was actually shocking, and so compelling in many ways. The chapter names are parts of the clues to where the notes can be found. What a journey for Ben, mourning the loss of the young girl he loved so briefly.

Thank you Kim Savage, Netgalley, and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group.

"And if I were you, I'd be skeptical about accepting a ride if someone does come by. Someone might drive past me and stop for you. After all, you're a young, beautiful girl walking alone down a dark, deserted road, and I won't be there to protect you if something bad happens. I'm not trying to scare you Sarah, but these are just facts. People get murdered and raped in this world every single day."...

It's Sarah Cate's twenty first birthday. What was hoped for with her boyfriend, Matt, is not what she gets. Broke down on the side of the road. Could this night be any worse?

Kevin, a Good Samaritan, saves Sarah more than once. Giving her a ride to a friends after trouble with Matt and her mother. Then there is Scotty. Dealing with things that make him feel broken. Tonight their lives are all going to intersect at a creepy "Bates Motel" kind of place.

Trying to work out their struggles, each are going to have to deal with the consequences of their actions. A page turner until the end. Character driven story line, which you don't often see. I like the depth that each of them were given. Interesting story line as well, and at times spooky. This is the third book I've read by this author. His young adult stories never fail to entertain.

Thank you Erik Therme

"The Twilight Tsunami" by Shelby Londyn-Heath

"Grey, he went so far as to say we should get rid of law enforcement that is spending billions on the war on drugs, a war that has never worked, and instead, overhaul the entire system. He said an FBI report came out recently revealing we spend 151 billion dollars a year on the drug war. It's a crime to spend that kind of money to bust people on drugs, when we desperately need money for prevention programs and treatment centers.".......

Grey has spent a hard eleven years as a social worker. Taking children from their parents, the drug addicts, mental illness, the conditions deplorable, families have suffered. The life is catching up to him, burning him out.

His co-workers are also severely stressed. One of them crosses the line, and sends Grey over the edge. The story isn't just about Grey's mental break. It's about the other workers as well. Lives fall apart of those trying to help the less fortunate.

This isn't really fiction in a sense. Having known a wonderful social worker at one time. She passed away from cancer a few years ago. She also quit her job in protest over a case of a child, that should have never been removed from its family. This book is very close to those story lines, and how things really work in an overloaded and broken system.

There is good and there is evil on either side of this story. It's sad because it rings so true. Not every case ends badly, but they never start well, and the scars run deep for the workers and the children, and the parents and families left behind.

There is a worker that has her own issues. To the extent she's willing to burn every bridge with every co worker, and do her best to destroy them. What a heartbreaking story. You'll have to read to find out if evil prevails, or gets put in her place.

In a total twist though, the ending was actually quite wonderful, and fun. I love how this book ended. Everything updated so you know how it all turns out.

Thank you Shelby Londyn-Heath
