"Once upon a time, he had convinced himself that chasing girls would get easier, that he'd get used to it and these moments wouldn't affect him. He was waiting for autopilot, a way to disconnect himself from his emotions, a way to make his eyes glaze over like Wade's seemed to. He was tired of seeing the shock, the fear, the dread. But it had been years at this point. Autopilot had yet to come."  ..                                                                       Michael Morrow: Brother

Michael tries to go to sleep at night to the screams of girls trying to escape into the woods outside his house. He wishes him mother would handle these things while the sun is still shining. Welcome to the Morrow family. Deep in the heart of Appalachia, where even the police don't stop at their house. Michael doesn't want to be like the rest of the family. He's met Alice at the record store in a nearby town. Can he keep her safe from himself, from what he is- from what is family is? What will his family think should they find out about her? Maybe his brother Rebel thinks he can help him remember who he is and where he comes from.

Scary and creepy from page one when Michael is listening to the screams outside his window. Every page and every thing they do screams horrifying and scary. It makes you hope that there are not people like this out there in the world. There may just be though.

Michael, Misty and Rebel, children of Wade and Claudine Morrow. What happened to the older sister Laura Lynn? Dinner time is always a special time they spend together as a family. That's after Michael has fulfilled his duties in the basement that is. Michael grapples  trying to separate himself from this murderous family and what another life would be like.
The more time he spends with Alice the more he thinks about leaving it all behind. The problem is Rebel is way more evil and way more ahead of Michael in what he thinks Michael's life should be like.

As Michael's birthday approaches Reb has a special surprise for him. You won't be able to stop reading this until the end. Written in a way that has you hoping for something good for Michael. Written in a way that evil will still surprise you when you least expect it.

Its the middle of the night and I just  finished this book. I hear something outside. I don't think I'll go to the window to look.
